ABOUT JIM LENZ

DIFFERENT STAGES. SAME QUESTION.

What makes people lean in?

For more than three decades, Jim Lenz has explored that question across an unusually wide range of people, places, and experiences—from classrooms and conference rooms to professional education, podcasts, workforce initiatives, and live stages. Along the way, he kept noticing the same forces at work: attention, curiosity, and care.

A CAREER BUILT AROUND CURIOSITY.

Jim's career has never followed a single stage or a single audience. For 18 years, he was a science educator, working directly with young people and exploring how curiosity, participation, and discovery shape learning. At the same time, he spent decades performing for live audiences—learning firsthand what captures attention, creates connection, and turns an ordinary moment into something people remember.

His work later expanded into professional education, association leadership, workforce development, learning design, facilitation, global education strategy, and podcasting. As the founder, host, and producer of two industry podcasts, his conversations with leaders, experts, and innovators have reached listeners across 113 countries. He has worked with learners from early childhood through higher education; front-line employees and emerging leaders; executives, CEOs, and boards; and organizations across education, healthcare, financial services, identity, agriculture, food and fuel, professional associations, nonprofits, startups, and industries around the world..

Different roles. Different audiences. Different stages. But the same questions kept resurfacing: What captures attention? What awakens curiosity? What creates meaningful connection? And what helps people see something they couldn't see before?

Those aren't separate chapters of Jim's career. Together, they're the experiences that shaped The Wonder Effect.

WHAT KEPT SHOWING UP?

ATTENTION

Attention makes us notice—people, ideas, possibilities, and things we may otherwise overlook.

Attention helps us notice.

CURIOSITY

Curiosity invites us to question assumptions, explore possibilities, and discover what we haven't seen yet.

Curiosity helps us discover.

CARE

Care creates the conditions for people to feel seen, valued, connected, and willing to contribute what they have to offer.

Care helps create the conditions for potential to emerge.

WHY WONDER?

Wonder changes the way we encounter people, ideas, and possibilities. It interrupts the expected. It makes us pay attention. It invites us to ask another question. And it can create a moment of connection that stays with us long after the experience ends.

Across Jim's work in education, professional learning, workforce development, facilitation, podcasting, and live performance, the same pattern kept appearing: when people pay attention, stay curious, and know that what they're doing—and who they're doing it with—matters, something changes.

That's the idea behind The Wonder Effect.

WHAT COULD CHANGE IF PEOPLE LEANED IN?

WHY WONDER?

Wonder is not a distraction from high-stakes corporate execution; it is the ultimate catalyst for it. When an audience experiences genuine awe, cognitive barriers dissolve, strategic vision aligns, and passive listening transforms into immediate collective ownership. By bridging behavior science with masterful stagecraft, Jim Lenz designs experiences that reawaken the baseline instinct to ask 'why'—leaving a permanent blueprint that alters how teams lead, innovate, and connect long after the event ends.
